A long running marketplace where business members trade goods and services with each other. The platform worked, but the interface had grown organically over years. Several button styles, three ways of rendering a listing, and member facing pages that were slow on the mobile connections most of the audience used.
Worked inside the client team rather than alongside it. Audited the interface, consolidated the patterns into a documented component library, and rebuilt the highest traffic member journeys against it. Listing, search and account management came first, since those carried the most usage.
Bundle discipline, image handling and render blocking scripts were the main wins on speed. Accessibility was brought to WCAG 2.1 AA across the rebuilt journeys: keyboard navigation, contrast, focus states and form labelling. For a platform used all day by business members, that is a usability improvement as much as a compliance one.
A documented design system the in house team continued to build on after the engagement ended. That was the point. The deliverable was capability, not just screens.
